Former Arnold Aides Almost Get Sweetheart Deal

We've all heard Governor Schwarzenegger say that special interests were folks who had contracts
with the state, when it fit his agenda... However, now two of his former aides, Adam Mendelsohn and Steve Schmidt almost managed to get a huge $9 million/5 year contract in the middle of California's crippling budget debacle. What gives? Saturday's Los Angeles Times editorial shows how far we have come in this age where a new Public Policy Institute of California poll shows that 73% of respondents believe state government is "run by a few big interests looking out for themselves."
