News Archive - Web Logs - Press Releases Dec 28, 2005 - 01:00 PM An Enterprising Contributionby David FinkAs Arnold has twisted and turned on the question of accepting campaign contributions, he has always claimed that he wouldn't take money from businesses that do business with the state (see LA Times, 2/21/05). But last week, Arnold's administration signed a $20-$30 million exclusive contract with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to provide rental vehicles to state employees after Enterprise gave the Gov $90k in campaign contributions. Arnold can't forget that he and his allies (correctly) beat up on Gray Davis and top Davis advisor Susan Kennedy, now Arnold's Chief of Staff, for taking a $25K contribution from Oracle after signing a contract to supply computer software to state agencies. Looks like this holiday season Enterprise will be picking up more than just customers, they'll also be picking up a fat Christmas bonus from taxpayers. If Arnold doesn't want to be chased by the Gray Ghost of Christmas Past he should return the $90k in contributions to Enterprise, otherwise Arnold will look just like our last Rent-A-Governor. --------------- E-mail comments to ArnoldWatch at arnoldwatch@consumerwatchdog.org |
