News Archive - Web Logs - Press Releases Mar 23, 2005 - 11:00 AM Car Buyers' or Sellers' Market?by Jamie CourtToday the push begins to qualify a ballot initiative for a car buyers' bill of rights that allows a three day cooling off period after a car sale and sets limits on dealer markups. Arnold vetoed a similar measure last year; now he'll have to decide whether to go on television to sell the car dealers' opposition to the ballot measure. Will Arnold be with car buyers or car dealers? Schwarzenegger has received $1,175,435.12 from the auto industry. That's a pretty good down payment for his role as a celebrity spokesman. If there were truth in advertising any dealer ad featuring Arnold would disclose: "And the Governor of the State of California is being brought to you today by Hitchcock Automotive Group ($102,385.12), Toyota Motor Sales USA, Inc. ($100,000), and Galpin Motors owners Herbert F. & Jane Boeckmann ($97,000)." --------------- E-mail comments to ArnoldWatch at arnoldwatch@consumerwatchdog.org |
