$22,300 For A Seat At The Policy Table

Arnold's invitation to tomorrow's Washington D.C. fundraiser at the St. Regis hotel promises that for $22,300 donors will get "one seat at the Business Roundtable with Governor Schwarzenegger following Luncheon (limited seating)." (Read the invite at: http://arnoldwatch.org/political_reform/DCfundr.pdf ). That's the 2 pm policy discussion following the governor's fundraiser. Unless Arnold opens the doors of the policy meeting to the public employees and nurses protesting the Gov's positions outside the hotel tomorrow, this private meeting means Arnold is charging big money for special access to a discussion about policy. That's the big "no-no" of campaign financing. You gotta keep the money and the policy separate.

The fundraising solicitation is not a misprint. At the Gov's Los Angeles fundraiser on March 16th at the Century Plaza hotel the invite promises that $89,200 will buy a "private briefing" for two with Arnold. Arnold can insist the money does not matter to him. But if it didn't, it would not buy a seat at the policy table.
